Matthew D. Robinson, DO

Board Certified Orthopaedic Surgeon
Fellowship Trained In Orthopaedic Traumatology

Dr. Robinson began his education by completing his Bachelor’s of Science in Biochemistry at the University of California, at Davis. He then attended medical school at Western University of Health Sciences, in Pomona, California. His internship and orthopedic residency were completed at Botsford hospital, a Michigan State University site, in Farmington Hills, Michigan.

Dr. Robinson then spent an additional year of specialized training at the University of Alabama, at Birmingham focusing on surgically treating the most severe and complex orthopedic injuries. These injuries include pelvis and acetabular fractures, complex intra-articular fractures (shoulder, elbow, hip, knee, and ankle), scapula fractures, malunions and nonunions, post-traumatic arthritis, bone infections, and complex soft tissue injuries.

Sports medicine and orthopedic surgery

In addition to his specialized trauma background, he is well trained in general orthopedics. He also treats arthritis, sports injuries, fractures, hand and shoulder injuries and foot and ankle problems. In caring for the majority of these conditions, non-operative modalities will first be exhausted before considering surgery. If and when operative management is indicated, Dr. Robinson performs joint replacements, arthroscopic surgery, repairs fractures, hand surgery, and foot and ankle surgery.

Concurrent with his private practice, Dr. Robinson is also involved with the teaching and training of orthopedic residents at Riverside University of Health Sciences. There, he participates in clinics, resident didactics, and operative instruction with all levels of residents.

On a personal note, Dr. Robinson was born and raised in Southern California. He has returned to his hometown, having grown up in the Temecula Valley. He went to Linfield High School and played varsity football, baseball and basketball.
